Reality Check for God’s Servants

I could not pass by this reality check as a servant for the Lord. One verse and statement sums up the tension that exists in ministry as we seek to serve God without the human attitude of our earthly nature.

Found in a church bulletin:

“He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8)

Lord, deliver me from the delusion of imagining that my desire is to serve You, when my real desire is the distinction of serving in some way which others admire.  – Elisabeth Elliot

About the Ordinary Hiker

A Christian camp director for many years, I enjoy ministry and being outdoors. I refer to God's creative wonder as the testimony of creation, a special place where God brings His word to life. Its where I like to be and where God speaks in His gentle voice in the awe of His creative work.
